IPCCC Term Restrictive interventricular communication when an interventricular shunt is physiologically necessary
IPCCC Code 07.14.07
ICD-11 MMS LA88.Y
ICD-11 Code 1822564395

Definition

A congenital cardiac finding in which there is an interventricular communication that is smaller than is required to permit physiologically adequate interventricular flow.

Synonyms/Abbreviations

None

STS-EACTS-derived IPCCC term

Ventricular septal abnormality, Restrictive interventricular communication when an interventricular shunt is physiologically necessary

EPCC-derived IPCCC term

Restrictive interventricular communication when an interventricular shunt is physiologically necessary

ICD-11 MMS code or crossmap

LA88.Y*: This Foundation term is not in ICD-11 MMS. If coding in MMS use term “Other specified congenital anomaly of a ventricle or the ventricular septum” with code LA88.Y

ICD-10 MMS code or crossmap

Q21.0**: This term is not in ICD-10. If coding using ICD-10, use the higher order term “Ventricular septal defect” with code Q21.0

Parent

Congenital anomaly of ventricular septum

Coding Notes

This should be coded only when associated with other cardiac abnormalities that result in physiological disturbances secondary to the absence of a larger interventricular communication. Clinically important examples include double outlet right ventricle or tetralogy of Fallot with restrictive ventricular septal defect, double inlet left ventricle or tricuspid atresia with concordant or discordant great arterial connections and restrictive ventricular septal defect, and others.
