Coding Notes

Although the term sinus venosus atrial septal defect is commonly used, the lesion is more properly termed a sinus venosus communication because, while it functions as an interatrial communication, this lesion is not a defect of the atrial septum. This term includes IPCCC terms "Sinus venosus defect (superior defect)" (05.05.01), and "Sinus venosus defect (inferior defect) (05.05.02)"
