IPCCC Term Congenital central pulmonary arterial stenosis or hypoplasia proximal to hilar bifurcation
IPCCC Code 09.10.37
ICD-11 MMS LA8B.1
ICD-11 Code 1061325287

Definition

A congenital cardiovascular malformation of a pulmonary artery, proximal to its first branch, in which there is luminal narrowing (below the lower limit of normal adjusted for body size).

Synonyms/Abbreviations

Central pulmonary arterial stenosis; Central pulmonary stenosis; Proximal pulmonary arterial stenosis; Proximal pulmonary stenosis

STS-EACTS-derived IPCCC term

Pulmonary arterial (branch) anomaly, Congenital pulmonary arterial (branch) stenosis or hypoplasia, Central (proximal to the hilar bifurcation)

EPCC-derived IPCCC term

Congenital central pulmonary arterial stenosis or hypoplasia proximal to hilar bifurcation

ICD-11 MMS code or crossmap

LA8B.1*: This Foundation term is not in ICD-11 MMS. If using MMS to code, crossmap to higher order term "Congenital anomaly of pulmonary arterial tree" with code LA8B.1

ICD-10 MMS code or crossmap

Q25.6**: This Foundation term is not in ICD-10. If using ICD-10 to code, crossmap to higher order term "Stenosis of pulmonary artery" with code Q25.6

Parent

Congenital pulmonary arterial branch anomaly

Coding Notes

The stenosis or hypoplasia may be isolated or associated with other cardiovascular lesions. Coarctation of the pulmonary artery is related to abnormal extension of the arterial duct (ductus arteriosus) into a pulmonary arterial branch, more frequently the left branch. This is to be distinguished from narrowing or hypoplasia of the pulmonary trunk (main pulmonary artery).
