07-11-14 Muscular outlet ventricular septal defect In this anterior view, the free wall of the right ventricle has been lifted away to view the septal surface. There is a ventricular septal defect (interventricular communication) that extends into the outlet component with no septal malalignment. In this case the defect is muscular with the postero-caudal arm (yellow dots) of the septal band extending to the ventriculo-infundibular fold, effectively separating the atrioventricular valve from the arterial valve.
