Modality: Anatomic specimen Orientation: Four chamber view Description: This simulated, four chamber echocardiographic view of a heart with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy demonstrates an intact "Berlin" heart canula at the apex of the left ventricle. The heart was then transplanted. Note the asymmetric septal hypertrophy of the interventricular septum and the diverticulum-like structure toward the base of the heart. The septum bulges toward the right ventricle. The atrial septum is thickened and there is endocardial fibroelastosis of the left atrial and ventricular endocardium. Contributor: Diane E.
