Description:  This apical view of a heart with concentric, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy simulates a short axis, apical echocardiographic cut.  Note the uniformity of the hypertrophy throughout the wall of the left ventricle and the interventricular septum.

Orientation:  Parasternal long axis view

Description: This view simulates a parasternal, long-axis echocardiographic view of a heart with concentric, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  The posterior wall of the aorta has been removed, leaving the left coronary leaflet (red dots) intact.  The left ventricle and interventricular septum are markedly hypertrophied with a septal bulge in the subaortic region.  Note the elongation of the aortic leaflet of the mitral valve and its close approximation to the septal bulge.
