This four chamber view demonstrates the discordant atrioventricular connections associated with congenitally corrected transposition. The right-sided, morphologically right atrium (mRA) is connected to the right-sided morphologically left ventricle (mLV) with the mitral valve (MV) in the inlet portion. On the left side, the morphologically left atrium (mLA) is connected to the morphologically right ventricle (mRV). The tricuspid valve (TV) is in its inlet portion. There is usual atrial arrangement. Note the reverse off-setting of the atrioventricular valves (red lines) as well as the intact ventricular septum. Although not imaged, this heart also had outflow tract obstruction from the right-sided morphologically left ventricle (mLV) to the pulmonary trunk. (ICV-inferior caval vein, OF-oval fossa)
