This four chamber view of the posterior aspect of the heart shows a hypoplastic right ventricle (RV) with an imperforate tricuspid valve (TV) at the atrioventricular junction. Even though the diaphragm like tricuspid valve impedes flow into the right ventricle from the right atrium (RA), a concordant atrioventricular connection is present. The hypoplastic right ventricle is filled with blood clot and the apical trabecular component is nearly obliterated. The oval fossa (POF) is widely patent. (PV-pulmonary veins, LA-left atrium, MV-mitral valve, LV-left ventricle)

A close up view of the anterior half of the heart shown in ImperTV1a, demonstrates the imperforate tricuspid valve (TV). The blood clot has been removed from the hypoplastic right ventricle (RV) showing the fused cordal attachments and the papillary muscles radiating from the under side of the valve. The oval fossa (POF) is widely patent. (RA-right atrium, LA-left atrium, MV-mitral valve, LV-left ventricle)
