Description: This simulated four chamber echocardiographic view shows the slight curvature of the normal muscular interventricular septum (red dots), giving it a sigmoid configuration. With age, this sigmoid configuration becomes more prominent. Note the double headed yellow arrow marking the atrioventricular component of the membranous septum, along with the normal offset of the hinges of the leaflets of the tricuspid and mitral valves..
