AEPC Derived Term:

Common coronary orifice (09.44.14)

Abnormal coronary origin: right coronary artery from left coronary aortic sinus, Intramural proximal coronary arterial course within sinus (09.43.09)

Tricuspid but functionally bicuspid aortic valve (09.15.46)

EACTS-STS Derived Term:

Coronary anomaly, AAOC (Anomalous aortic origin of coronary), RCA from LASV ("left coronary" aortic sinus of Valsalva)

Coronary anomaly, AAOC (Anomalous aortic origin of coronary), Aberrant coronary artery-modifier for orifice morphology, With 1 orifice within
sinus (the intima of the "carina" of the coronary is deep to the plane of the aortic intima)

Coronary anomaly, AAOC (Anomalous aortic origin of coronary), Aberrant coronary artery, Intramural course without interarterial course and without intraconal (intraseptal) course of the right coronary artery (RCA) vs Coronary anomaly, AAOC (Anomalous aortic origin of coronary), Aberrant coronary artery, Interarterial course of right coronary from left aortic sinus of Valsalva (interarterial course=the epicardial course of a coronary artery between the great arteries), Aortic stenosis-modifier for number of aortic valve cusp(s), 2 aortic valve cusps (Bicuspid aortic valve) (09.15.92, 09.15.22)

Modality: Anatomic specimen

Orientation: Superior-posterior view of the aorta

Description:  This superior-posterior view of the aorta reveals a thickened aortic wall just distal to the common coronary orifice. The right and left coronary arteries immediately bifurcate from this orifice and the left main coronary artery extends between the aorta and the pulmonary trunk. The left main coronary artery (yellow arrow) bifurcates normally to the circumflex and anterior interventricular branches. The right coronary artery extends along the anterior aorta and reaches the right atrioventricular groove in the normal fashion.

Modality: Anatomic specimen

Orientation: Superior view of the aorta

Description:  A superior view of the aorta at the base of the heart illustrates the right and
left coronary arteries originating from the same orifice. The right coronary orifice has an intramural course as it extends along the anterior aspect of the aorta. The left main coronary artery (yellow arrow) is short and bifurcates in the usual fashion to the circumflex and anterior interventricular branches. The aortic valve is trileaflet but functionally bicuspid because of a fused, incomplete commissure between the right and left coronary leaflets.
